We are building St Mary's school in the east of Uganda. Many children meet under a tree or in unsuitable classrooms. We want to give them a better chance to learn well in a purpose-built school, free from the beating sun, wind or rain.

Story

We are a small group of board gamers who enjoy our hobby. We wanted to take something we like doing and through this help raise some money for an excellent cause. One of our members is associated with a UK based charity called Abaana that works to promote the improvement of education amongst the children of Uganda. Here is their story...

To date, Abaana has built 16 primary schools in Uganda. These educate over 5,000 children, giving them a chance to break free from the poverty cycle. Once such school is St Mary's in Eastern Uganda. We are partnering with this school to enable them to invest in the children from their communities. The original school was started in 2007 to promote education in the area. The school is built on eight acres of land. It runs from Nursery to Primary 6, with some classes under trees, some classes in temporary structures and it has one semi-permanent building. The school has 255 children registered.
