Welsh 3000s trek, 5 June 2010

We fund ground-breaking medical research to replace the use of animals in research

Story

On 5 June 2010, I will be part of a team taking the Welsh 3000s challenge, which is to climb all fifteen of the mountains over 3,000 feet high in Wales. The route is about 30 miles long but the real challenge is the over 13,000 feet of ascent -- we aim to complete it within 24 hours. (Just as a training session, we did the 24-mile Yorkshire 3 Peaks route in 11 hours in April!)

I have chosen to raise money for the Dr Hadwen Trust, which is a tremendous charity that funds pioneering medical research without the use of animals. Over the decades, the Trust has developed scores of techniques that have replaced animals in experiments. Each year in the UK, over 3 million animals are used and killed in experiments, and this figure is rising, making the work of the Trust more important than ever.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving, who will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the Trust and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate -- I can raise more, whilst saving time and costs for the Trust.

So please dig deep and donate now :-)

Thanks for visiting.
