Story
Lets be honest, anyone who knows me knows that I love my fishing, especially fly fishing and so is this really a challenge for me?
Well picture yourself (or me!) stood waist deep against a strong current, somewhere mid-river, on a rocky and uneven river bed. You will expend quite a lot of energy holding against the current. Then as you slowly move downstream you expend more energy keeping balance with each tentative step to avoid faceplanting into the river after falling over an unseen rock- we've all done it! Add to that wielding a 14 foot long rod to cast a long fly line all the way across the river every few minutes. then consider doing that for 24 hours, 11pm until 11pm.
Is this a challenge absolutely! There will be plenty of aching muscles, no doubt a few blisters and certainly fatigue before the end arrives!
Therefore, of course I will enjoy the experience, but it is absolutely a challenge that slightly concerns me!
All money raised will go to the River Dee Trust who support crucial river restoration, salmon research and education which benefits the environment in general. For example, the trust has embarked upon one of the most ambitious nature restoration projects in the Cairngorms with the aim to plant one million trees. The project will restore one of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes, which has been lost for 2000 years.
