Great North Run · 10 September 2017 ·

The nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, more than 400,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes. Our volunteers provide first aid in their communities and thanks to them fewer lives will be lost needlessly. Raise money. Help save lives. Be the difference.

In 2015 I was dared / cajoled / bullied in to taking part in the great north run - I was not a fit person at the time, but I trained and I practiced and I became what I thought was 'fit enough'. It turns out I wasn't. I got 11 miles in and suffered a cardiac arrest. I was lucky enough to collapse in front of a St John ambulance tent. If I hadn't had immediate and brilliant medical treatment I wouldn't be here today. They gave me defibrillation and saved my life. I'd like to raise enough money to allow them to buy another defibrillator.
