Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

The Adopt a School Trust is about improving lives and changing habits. Chefs and hospitality professionals deliver fun and informative food and cookery sessions to children. We teach cooking as a life skill and enthuse children about taste, food provenance and healthy eating.

Story

Having run the New York marathon in 2010 and subsequently vowing to not run another (I've ticked that box!) I find myself training once more, this time for London 2012. The opportunity to run in my favourite city in the world in this, the Olympic year was too enticing an opportunity to pass up.

With just four weeks to go, I am both excited and apprehensive in equal measure and hope that my left knee won't let me down on the day! Fingers crossed!

I am raising money for Chefs Adopt a School, the Academy of Culinary Arts’ charity, which is about improving lives and changing habits. Professional chefs deliver food education to children in schools nationwide, teaching them that there is more to life than Big Macs and deep fried chicken wings and enthusing them about taste, food provenance and healthy eating.

My aim is to get as many of the people that I know to donate the cost of a supersize Big Mac meal, just £4.59, which collectively can make a meaningful difference to the charity (Cue the jokes about me raising £9.18!!).

Donating through JustGiving is simple and Gift Aid is automatically reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Any support will be very much appreciated and will help spur me on through the last weeks orf training.

Many thanks,

Iain.
