🚴♂️ Hove to Sunderland: A 387-Mile Cycle Commute (Sort Of)
At work, I split my time between my teams in Hove and Sunderland. In July, I’m going to cycle from one office to the other — 387 miles over 5 days — to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and support.
My grandmother is sadly affected by Alzheimers, and this felt like a good way to do something useful (and mildly ridiculous) to help out a cause that hits close to home.
I’ll be carrying all my kit, riding solo, and doing it on my Cycle to Work scheme bike — which feels fair, since this is technically the ultimate cycle commute.
There’ll be no support van, but there may be leg shaving. Almost certainly a sore backside. And hopefully, a triumphant entrance to the Friday Family Dinner meeting at Doxford — ideally upright.
If you fancy chucking in a few quid, I’d be massively grateful. It all goes to Alzheimer’s, and I’ll earn every penny with hills, heat, and more flapjacks than is medically advisable.
Cheers,
Tom
