Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 18 June 2016, I had a massive stroke… the paramedics were worried that I wouldn’t make it the hospital! I was 40 years of age. Nice birthday! The hospital give my wife a 10% chance that I would survive for operation, but I liked the odds... I had a Mechanical Thrombectomy, a clot retrieval that helped my recovery better than before. Then they hoped that I would only be in hospital for 3 months! After all that, I just out after 2.5 weeks... that’s when rehab started.

Okay, so I still have nerve damage on my right side land a thing called aphasia to work with, but life is a challenge! Speech and Language therapy (as well as Occupational therapy) got me from a new words a week, to 10 times a day and got me to read, write and speak! The Stroke Association were a massive part of that; my rehab still continues with them 18 months later.

Now, I am a Stroke Association Ambassador, talking to nurses, doctors and politicians, anyone who can help. Stroke kills 1 in 3 people... and that needs to change. However, until that happens, the Stroke Association help stroke survivors learn and get better with what they can do. Help me to give them some money!
