I'm supporting Shine by taking on the Great North Run 2022!
Back in 2021, Sir Jonathan Van Tam challenged me to participate in this year's Great North Run. In front of a virtual audience of over 100 colleagues. I foolishly agreed! Jonathan, I am expecting a donation!
So why am I running for SHINE? Around the same time as my pledge to JVT, my Grandson, Rueben, was born 17 weeks premature. Thanks to the superb care of the NHS , Rueben is now nearly 10 months old. Rueben has hydrocephalus and SHINE and other charities have provided Rueben and his parents with invaluable help and support. I hope that this fundraising goes some way towards thanking them for everything they have done. Rueben is my super hero, I even call him Super Rue, so he will be getting my medal when I complete the GNR.
Shine provides specialist support from before birth and throughout the life of anyone living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, as well as to parents, families, carers and professional care staff. Shine enables people to get the best out of life. Everything we do is made possible by our generous supporters. Your donation helps individuals and families in your local communities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every donation has the potential for profound impact.
THANK YOU for supporting me, SHINE and Super Rue.
