I am a 49 year old proud father to five children, the youngest being my six year old twins- Freddy & Lily-May.
I was diagnosed with a rare combination of cancers in 2014. My right lungs and 21 lymph nodes were removed on the 1st September 2014. It was in January 2015 that I started running to raise funds, awareness and hope, after being told it would be very difficult for me and endurance distances would be impossible. Since then I have ran the Cheltenham Half Marathon twice and last year I completed the London Marathon. In September last I collapsed, whilst out running as part of my training to take part in the New York Marathon. Sadly my cancer had spread to my brain, on the 15th October one large tumour was surgically removed, followed by intensive radiotherapy to contain the remaining eleven tumours as part of my palliative care plan. Two weeks after brain surgery I was back running my local park run, to get some normality back to life and may be inspire other cancer patients not to give up. My running ability is greatly limited now but I am determined to keep going. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and with cancer affecting one in two people you may be helping yourself. My dream is a simple one, that one day our children will grow up not to fear cancer as our generation does, this can be achieved if we give the funds to CRUK to continue their research. Thank you.
