Barnsley Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care for adults living with a progressive life-limiting illness, and the people close to them. We are here for people from the point of diagnosis and throughout their palliative care journey, including at the end of their life.

Story

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dominic, Seb, Richard and Ian are raising much needed funds for Barnsley Hospice, South Yorkshire.  Have a look at http://www.barnsleyhospice.org/Home.aspx to see how your support can make a big and positive difference to the patients, thier relatives and friends who all recieve help from the hospice.

The Brompton World Championships is a slightly unusal bicycle race, which obviously involves some furiously fast racing, but on Brompton folding bikes and with the riders wearing a jacket and tie!  The Barnsley Hospice Bromptonteers are taking the event very seriously and have already been out training to practice riding in formation, but they also intend to have a lot of fun.  Have a look at http://www.brompton.co.uk/bwc/2009/ for more information.

The Barnsley Hospice Bromptoneers are:

Domonic Watts, who works for Microsoft;

Seb Schmoller, who works for The Association for Learning Technology;

Richard Kocher, who works for the BBC;

Ian Carey, who works for Barnsley Hospice (he's the boss).

Update

We have now completed this wonderful event and had a fantastic time.  Unfortunately we had a major calamity in that just 500m from the finish Dom suffered a puncture!  This has clearly adversely affected our team finishing time.  The results have yet to be published, but we will be analysing them to assess the 'what if' had Dom not punctured.  We are already discussing our tactic for next.
