Many families have been effected by the big C and mine is no exception. In September 2008 Lucie my mum, lost her fight against cancer and in February 2009 my son then 17 was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He has undergone surgery and radio therapy and he is now on chemotherapy. Throughout the past year we have met some remarkable people at Leeds General Infirmary and at St James's Hospital. We have been fortunate in that we have not had to stay at the hospital for very long, many children need to stay for weeks at a time. The NHS can only provide the necessities for those people, it is down to charities like Candlelighters who provide the extra comforts that make such a difficult time more barable for patients and families.

The GNR is finished, I completed the run in a very respectable 2 hours and 2 seconds, I was placed 11,130. There being about 54,000 runners I came in the top 25%. The run was a fantastic experience with people cheering runners the whole way. There were about 40 people running for Candle Lighters. I hope that we mange to collect thousands of pounds for the charity. It is heartening to think that 54.000 runners representing many many charities could raise millions of pounds for their chosen cause. Thankyou once again for your donation
