Story

Hi, it’s me again, getting ready to embark on another long-distance walk: The Dales Way, Ilkley to Windermere. The walk is not too arduous, 80 miles over 5 days, however it has to be my biggest effort yet as I’m walking for a really important cause. All of us at some point in our lives benefit from charitable organisations or at the very least we have friends who need somebody’s support. Over the last few years our family has been very much reliant on the help of a wonderful charitable organisation that provides support to those affected by dementia. In our case, it is my father-in-law David Garner. Barnsley Independent Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support (BIADS biads.org.uk) provides support to sufferers of dementia, their carers, families and friends by offering information, emotional support, social opportunities, meaningful activities and events. Without donations this great charity would not exist and for sure we would not be coping without them. BIADS needs to raise over £120,000 a year in charitable donations in order to exist. Hence this has to be my biggest charity walk yet and this is why I am appealing to you again. My walk will commence on Monday 17th April and finish on Friday  21st April 2023 passing through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and onto the stunning Lake Windermere in Cumbria. I shall be camping so let’s hope the weather is kind to me. I'm starting early with my charity appeal to try and raise as much as possible:)
