Story
Having completed the BBBR 2022, under pressure, MAMIL Tour de France has agreed to do it again in 2023!!
We are a group of middle aged, unfit and overweight (some more than others) men who have come together to raise funds for Help for Heroes by completing the Big Battlefield Bike Ride 2023 in June - this time to Dunkirk.
The team is basically the same group - Simon Blagden, Ian Field, Jim Hancock and James Selka - with Sean McCarry and Paul Phillips in support.
The whole team has cycled for Help for Heroes at some point in the past - many of the team multiple times. For over a decade, Help for Heroes charity bike ride has used pedal-power to raise vital funds to give strength to wounded veterans and their families.
The Big Battlefield Bike Ride 2023 cycle challenge takes us from Étretat through Northern France to Dunkirk, visiting some of the region’s most significant battle sites from both World Wars, including Dieppe and Ypres, before following in the footsteps of the British Expeditionary Force.
Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. This fundraising helps them recover and get on with their lives.
So far Help for Heroes have supported more than 25,000 people and won’t stop until every veteran gets the support they deserve.
