With Covid 19 hampering the fundraising efforts of the Poppy Appeal this year,  it is even more important to help raise funds for the brilliant work the Royal British Legion performs.

Our Scout Group was one of the First in Buckinghamshire to affiliate with our local Royal British Legion Branch. 

We support them in their activities whenever and wherever we can. As Group Scout Leader I am the link to our British Legion Branch and as their welfare officer this charity is as important to me as the work I perform in Scouting.

This event sees a small group of leaders from Lane End Scout Group castaway on an wooded island off the South Coast for five days,  learning to survive the Backwood way, Shelter building, and foraging in a Bear Grylls style. 

Transferring to our location by boat, cut of from the mainland without even a Deliveroo driver to support us....A proper back to basics survival of the fittest, five day adventure.

The five nights we are attending will not only support the work of the British Legion, but will also give myself and the four other Leaders who are also taking part a set of superb transferable skills that we can pass on to the  90 Young People we work with on a weekly basis....so really it’s a two for the price of one,  win win situation.
