Story

We are a group of Glass workers from Yorkshire, who have witnessed the extreme sacrifices made by the soldiers of Our Yorkshire Regiment. We have come together to raise money in support of Our Regiment and Our Soldiers. Yorkshire is by far the largest county in England bounded by two rivers (Tees and Humber) the North Sea and a bloody big hill known as the Pennines. In side those borders live people with strong hearts and minds. The natural home to the British Glass industry, Yorkshire is a place where the world’s best Bottle Makers and Soldiers are forged out of the grit and determination that epitomises our people. As we all know this is “Gods own County”.  These points were made far more eloquently than I can by George Hicks in 1682. “Our County is the epitome of England: whatsoever is excellent in the whole land being found in proportion thereto…. Besides, God hath been pleased to make it the birthplace and nursery of many Great men and special Instruments of his Glory”. (Yorkshire Ridings Society)

Over the following four Months the United Bottle Makers of Yorkshire will be taking part in and running various fund raising activities to raise funds for the Yorkshire Regiment. The Grand Finale to this summer of fund raising will be a charity sky diving event, where for the first time for us we will be jumping out of an air craft in to the beautiful Yorkshire sky’s to raise money for our brothers and sister in the Yorkshire Regiment.
