Great River Race · 5 September 2009

All our students have severe and complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). Many have been excluded from other schools and are regarded as unteachable when they join us. At Ian Mikardo, we provide minute-by-minute support and our new purpose-built school gives them a safe haven.

Story

Leaside Regeneration is 11 years old this year and so to celebrate the next 10 years we decided to compete in the Great River Race.  Starting at the Millwall and finishing in the race covers 22 miles up the River Thames.

We are not natural athletes so competing in such a gruelling event has to have a purpose.  We have decided to raise money for Ian Mikardo trust – a school and charity which is local to Leaside.  Ian Mikardo run a project called Kardo Krafts (http://www.ianmikardo.com/page_viewer.asp?pid=7) which offers young people the opportunity to explore design and enterprise, selling products they have created at Spitalfields Market.

Please donate what you can and come and support us on 5th September!

Thank you very much.
