Story
In June 2015 I was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer. We discovered that the cancer had spread from the original site into my lungs.
It was a devastating revelation and one my young family and I had to come to terms with.
Thanks to some outstanding surgeons, oncologists and nurses (as well as the support of my incredible family and friends), I was nursed through recovery from surgery in June 2015 and then accepted onto a Royal Marsden immunotherapy trial which lasted for 2 years. In 2017 the treatment stopped having effect, so I was transferred back to Ipswich Hospital where I have been looked after (extremely well) ever since.
Astonishingly (according to the medical profession) I have gone into remission in January 2019, although chemotherapy treatment will continue.
Throughout this experience I have (suprisingly!) maintained a very positive focus and with the assistance of the SSM Mamils and Colchester Rovers Cycling Club, I have, periodically, kept up my riding to varying standards.
I completed a memorable Copenhagen to Berlin tour with my Dad and David Smyth in 2018 and now in 2019 I am embarking on a superb trip from Venice to Rome - for some outstanding causes - Cancer care and Education.
Please support these two organisations as both have had a very positive effect on myself and my family.
