Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I retired from the Police Service in April 2009 after taking up cycling as a recreational hobby in 2008.  A friend had cycled across the USA prior to that and I was so enthused by his blog that I wanted to do the same.  I thought that if I could succeed in this, it would be a fantastic retirement adventure and  also a great personal achievement.  The goal is 3629 miles over 50 days between 21st June and 9th August

Having decided to go ahead, I thought it would also be a great opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause.  Many members of my immediate family have had cancer so I have personally experienced the tremendous support a hospice gives at what is a very diffiult time in people's lives.  St Oswalds is local to me and has a wonderful reputation so I can think of no more deserving cause.

May I point out that every penny you give will go to St Oswalds as I am funding this trip entirely by myself.  I am not being subsidised in any way, shape or form by St Oswalds.

I have begun a blog which I intend to update weekly with my training schedule and on a daily basis during the trip which you can find at,

Any donation, however small, will be much appreciated
