This is easily the most ill-advised thing I've ever signed up for. I'll be really, really happy if I don't die.

I've joined a small team of people with similarly poor judgement for a 24hr swim in a lake in Shepperton on 11-12 June. We'll tag team from noon on Saturday and each do at least three one hour swims spread through the day and night until noon on the Sunday. The night swim will be nuts. We need to strap lights to our goggles and tow buoys. Given that I got lost twice in broad daylight the last time I swam in a lake - a man on a kayak put me back on course - I fully expect trouble to find me in the dark.

Earlier this year I couldn't swim more than two lengths of front crawl, but after a few lessons and lots of time in the water I'm thinking it might be doable. I'll soon find out. 

The charity we are raising money for funds swimming lessons for people with disabilities which is a pretty decent cause in my book. I'm super grateful for anything you can chip in.
