Story

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through JustGiving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. JustGiving   will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

So at some point in May i decided it would be a good idea to enter the ballot for the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon, probably with the thought that there would be no way that i would actually get a ballot place, especially after hearing stories about how many times people have unsuccesfully applied in the past. Fast forward a few months and i receive the news that i have been accepted into the London marathon. After slight panic and dread i accpeted the place and decided to search for a charity to run for, rather than just doing the marathon for FUN!!!!!

So after a few weeks of searching, suggestions and reading what various charities are about i finally decided to run for Roald Dahl's marvellous childrens charity. I was unaware of this charity before searching the internet and as well as my kids and myself loving Roald Dahl Books (and film adaptations of these), after reading up on the charity i thought it was a 'MARVELLOUS' charity to run for. For those of you, like my self, who may be unaware of this charity i have added a bit below about the charity's mission, and if you want to find out more just give them a google.

I've set myself 2 abitious targets for this, the first is actually getting fit and round the 26 miles and the 2nd is to raise at least £1000 by the time i cross the finish line some time on April 23rd....or 24th...or 25th......

So please donate as much as you feel you can spare and every £1 really does help.

Charity mission

A more marvellous life for seriously ill children

Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity helps to make life better for seriously ill children in the UK.

Our Roald Dahl Nurses provide medical and emotional support to children with serious and rare conditions, and their families.

We believe every child has the right to a more marvellous life, no matter how ill they are, or how short their life may be.

We help children from birth to their 21st birthday, across the UK. Some of our programmes also bring global benefits.

We want to ensure that children and young people living with serious illnesses and disabilities are:

Understood, with deeper public knowledge about their needs.
Helped, with their needs met to live a full life.
Safe, with a comfortable home environment.
Loved, with a strong support network around them.
Treated with respect and the right care.
We make life better for seriously ill children in many ways including Roald Dahl children's nurses, family grants and research.

We create and fund professional support for children, including Roald Dahl specialist nurses.
We support innovative nurse-led research and training, so the care we provide for children is the best it can possibly be.
We provide practical assistance for families in financial crisis to help them care for their seriously ill or disabled child.
