Ian's half marathon/ 3 peaks challenge

southend half marathon · 9 July 2017
Our daughter was diagnosed with Scoliosis back in September 2016. This was a huge shock to us all and she required major spinal surgery to prevent the curvature from progressing and seriously affecting her internal organs. In March this year, she underwent a 6 hour operation where her vertabrae was realigned and 14 pins and 2 rods were placed down her spine. The operation was a huge success and we cannot thank enough the amazing surgeons and staff from Stanmore hospital. Kate is almost back to full health and within just a few months should be back to leading a full and normal life. We spent a number of days and nights at the hospital and sadly it was quite obvious to see that the hospital is in much need of additional funds for renovations and new developments and some facilities need considerable improvement for both the patients and visitors.
I'll be forever indebted to the staff at the hospital and this has prompted me to get up and do something to help. On 9th July I will be running the Southend half marathon and then on 4th August I will taking part in the 3 peaks challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scaffel Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours. I thank you all so much for any contributions you are able to make :-)
