Ian's Charity Skydive · 6 March 2021

Sunflowers was created in memory of Pete Morris who died by suicide in 2016. His family developed the Charity to walk alongside others bereaved by suicide and to be a small ray of light in the darkness; offering others comfort and support that is so desperately needed at such a difficult time. Sunflowers endeavour to provide other families with practical and professional support so they do not feel overwhelmed and alone. This we hope will give a glimmer of hope for the future. Sunflowers also raise awareness around mental health and suicide both on social media and by networking locally and nationally. We deliver accredited training to the wider community and presentations sharing our story. We highlight that it is Okay to not be ‘Okay’ and the importance of talking and of course listening. We feel that everyone can play a small part in connecting with and helping others to feel less alone.

Story

So I've decided, on Sat March 6th 2021, to launch myself out of an aeroplane at 10000ft in order to raise some money for a fantastic local charity, Sunflowers Suicide Support.

I'm absolutely bricking it but, you know me, I love a challenge and being taken out of my comfort zone every once in a while.

For those who don't know, Sunflowers was setup in memory of Pete Morris, who took his own life in September 2016 aged 29 years old, with the aim of being the small ray of light in the darkness, offering others comfort and support that is so desperately needed after a suspected suicide loss.  They really are a fantastic group of people and any money raised will be put to good use as they support families going through the most horrendous times.
