Chengelo Trust supports a Christian, co-educational boarding school in Zambia. It contributes education for the next generation of leading Zambians. Chengelo has the best academic record in the country, and is also strong in agricultural education and in outreach to subsistence farmers. It urgently needs support for development projects.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page, I hope you find it interesting.
My wife, Mary, and I taught a term as volunteers at Chengelo Secondary (Mary) and Primary (Ian) earlier this year and we have been bowled over by the vision, scope, potential and effect this venture is having on the educational scene, the local community and also the vision to develop leaders of integrity and ability to ensure a fair and bright future for the people of Zambia.  Africa deserves no less!
To celebrate my 70th birthday (Jan 2010) my son Jake and I, along with his new father-in-law John and brother-in-law James, aimed to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Africa's highest mountain for Zambia's highest school!  All this at our own expense - so what you give is what the charity gets - plus Gift Aid if appropriate!

So....it's a CELEBRATION........a BONDING.........and the COMING TOGETHER OF TWO FAMILIES.........and if I can raise £1 for every 1 meter I climb above sea level (at least £5,895) that will just be the icing on the cake or the snow on the mountain! - providing much needed support for Chengelo School.

Getting close to climb time now...just over a week to go.  Last training walk this Sunday with the team - we are walking from South to North the length of the Malverns - lots of ups and downs - 6 peaks in all.

Thanks to all who have had enough faith to sponsor me before the event - all your names were called out on the peak - the highest point in Africa at 0815 on Sunday 1st November. ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM MADE IT WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT EFFECTS  for which we are very grateful.  If you haven't yet donated, now is the time to give my fundraising for Chengelo School a boost and get me to my target!

Thanks to all who are responding to the valiant and SUCCESSFUL efforts of the team.......NO blisters, NO altitude sickness to speak of and thanks to the Africa Walking Co guides who were fantastic!  This fundraising page will stay open for those who are still saving up to donate and groups who want to hear /see accounts of the adventure.  Mary and Ian are very happy to do presentations to your group.  Please call on 0117 956 6630 and we can arrange.

Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and absolutely secure.  Your details are safe with Just Giving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted e-mails.  Once you donate they'll send your money directly to Cengalo Educational Trust (Registered Charity No. 1015255) and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimedon every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.  So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.  So please dig deep and donate now.  Thankyou for your generosity.

NOW I HAVE TO GET TO THE TOP!  I'll keep you posted.
