My 30 Water Challenge, raising money for kidney patients

NKF Water Challenge 2020 · 1 April 2020
The NKF supports the 3 million people in the UK with Kidney disease, and for the month of April I am only drinking water to hydrate my kidney and raise vital funds for the charity.
I'd be very grateful if you could sponsor me and help me through this 30 day challenge.
I know it's tricky times for everyone right now, and I almost feel bad for asking, but so many things have been cancelled. I have family members due to run marathons, there are live events that have had to be postponed, but this is something I can still do from home.
I'm classed right now as one of the vulnerable people who can't go out as I'm at extreme risk of complications should I catch the Covid-19 coronavirus. I'm 3 days in to week 1 of a 12 week shut in. I can't go out. Not even shopping, to the chemist or anything. I can't work from home. I am reliant on my wife, my family and friends to do everything for me outside my front door. Anyone who knows me well will know how stubbornly self-reliant I am. I don't like not being able to do things for myself. It's frustrating for me now, and will undoubtedly get worse.
So. This charity thing. I did this last year, and raised a few hundred quid. I'd like to beat that.
For the entirety of April, I can only drink water. No coffee or tea. No fizzy drinks. No alcohol. Only Adam's Ale, the clear stuff, plain ol' water. And with everyone bulk buying bottled water from the shops, it's just gonna be me and the kitchen tap.
It's a similar liquid intake that all dialysis patients have to stick to. I was on it for 2 years, but I was lucky, many are on it for years with no chance of a life-changing, second-chance, transplant.
I'm doing it for them. And the NKF are there to help, so if you can, donate, but more importantly, please, please share as much as you can.
If you don't know why I'm doing it, well, I've been there. And maybe not for the last time.
I was suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease and was at Stage 5 - End Stage Renal Failure. My kidney function was down to 5%, and I was on my last kidney as my right one had already been removed in 2012 because of the illness.
I was put on dialysis within days. 3 times a week, 4.5 hours at a time. Straight away I had to restrict my fluid intake to no more than 1.5 litres per day. No more alcohol. Cut down caffeine. Diet had to change, everything was affected.
Almost 2 years to the day after starting dialysis, I got "The Call", and by the end of this challenge, it will be almost 3 years since my transplant, when I got my second chance.
The NKF do great work supporting people like me, going through life changing medical issues every day.
I've been lucky, but I may need their support in the future. Please. Help me raise important funds so they can continue to help people.
Give whatever you can. It might only be £1, but they all count. Plus don't forget to claim Gift Aid if you're a UK taxpayer (who isn't?!).
Thank you.
