Ian's message...
In 2005 I was diagnosed with a type of tumour in my head called an Ameloblastoma. It’s a very rare tumour which if you’re going to get it would usually develop in the lower jaw and not the upper jaw and that’s been my problem because in the lower jaw you just cut it out rebuild and that’s often all the treatment you need.
The Bristol Dental Hospital has lead my treatment along with the Bristol Royal Infirmary, St. Michael’s hospital and also Bristol Oncology Centre. Between them they have helped me to live five more years of life and very good quality of life at that.
In lieu of flowers for my funeral I would be very grateful for donations to be made in my name to the hospitals “Above and Beyond Charity”. Prof. Thomas will make the most of any donations and he spoke to me about improvements he wanted to make which would help patients and medics alike.
Please give as generously as you can.
Thank you
Ian
