Story
Hi. I'm Ian from Earby, East Lancs and I am teaming-up with Todmorden's inspirational 'January Daily Dippers' in their annual shenanigans involving cossie-only swims across the North of England! I am not sure if I am going to be able to swim every day but I am going to have a go and see how many I can do.
It's all in aid of CRISIS who estimate that there are 135,000 children are homeless and/or living in temporary accommodation and - get this - the latest surveys say that 1 in every 200 people in the UK are now classified as homeless. And that, on average, they will die at just 44 years old... these are sickening figures, don't you think? In one of the supposedly richest countries in the world?? Not only that but it's continually getting worse...
But then this is also for me personally. It's like a daily therapy. Every time I am walking to the swim spot I am aware that a nagging part of me is thinking, "This hurling ourselves into a body of cold water in the middle of winter is a terrible idea!" And yet, each time I go through with it, I re-remember that being at one with nature like this is the best and quickest way I know to feel instantly uplifted, buzzing and ALIVE!!
If you fancy some of that and would like to help me in my challenge please get in touch. Even if you can only do 1 swim with me by the end of Jan2020 that would be great! In fact, you don't even have to get in! If you change your mind on the day, the role of cheerer-onner, towel holder and hot drinks monitor is equally important!!
