Mum and son team, Charlie and Vicky, have joined the jolly nice South West Seals to swim an ice mile to raise funds for the utterly brilliant Starfish Appeal.  These South West Seals have no truck with wetsuits or dry-suits, so we're stripping off to our cossies to swim part of an ice mile (water temperatures under 5ºC brrrrr) at Cromhall Quarry on Sunday, 8 February.

The money we raise will go towards building and maintaining a very special hydrotherapy pool at Claremont School to be used by children and young adults with complex physical and learning disabilities in the Bristol area.

Why is Hydrotherapy needed?

The warm water, high air temperature and relief of body weight provided by a hydrotherapy pool enable people to move in ways that they cannot manage on land. For many disabled people, who may live with pain all the time, their first session in a hydrotherapy pool can be their first time without pain. Additionally the exercises are more intensive than land based physiotherapy and new movements are learned which can be transferred to everyday life.
