Story
Over Christmas of 2018 I caught the flu and a week later developed double pneumonia. By the time I arrived at A&E I could barely breathe.
After pumping me full of propofol, medazolam and fentanyl they put me into a medically induced coma and stuck a breathing tube down my throat. At that point they were supplying 98% of my oxygen.
They told my family that for the next 48 hours it would be 50/50.
Thankfully, with their expert care and treatment, combined with a boatload of powerful antibiotics, I came out of sedation 3 weeks later hallucinating, thirsty and unable to walk.
But I was alive.
If it hadn't been for the utterly wonderful nurses and doctors in the Bournemouth ICU I wouldn't be here, typing this, asking you to donate money to these awesome people. You don't have to give much. Just as much as you can afford. Every penny of every pound will go directly to fund the intensive care unit and support its valuable work.
If we raise £10k we might just pay for all the amazing drugs they gave me ;)
