Orlando and Ida are running the Edinburgh Marathon and Ben is tackling the half marathon to raise money for our amazing cousin Meriel. At 21 months Meriel was diagnosed with Nemaline Myopathy, a very rare form of muscular dystrophy that currently has no treatment or cure. We all take our basic movements for granted but Meriel, now aged 14, requires constant support. Despite machines to help her breathe 24 hours a day and a gastrostomy tube for basic nourishment, she doesn't let any of it stand in her way. She is an amazing artist, photographer, pianist (please see video below) and above all has the most incredible sense of humour and sass when she needs it!

She is one of the bravest and most inspirational people we know and everyone who meets her walks away with a new outlook on life and this is what has inspired us to take on this challenge. A few tough hours for us for the challenges that she faces every day.

We are raising money for "Muscular Dystrophy UK", to help with the much-needed research into the understanding of, and development of treatments for this disease to allow Meriel and others like her the best chance in life. 

We are hugely grateful for any donations, big or small, to this wonderful charity and will help a lot in the build up to the big day!
