Story
Hi! If you're on this page, you probably know me already, but just in case you don't, I'm Laura, I'm 37 and I have breast cancer, which was definitely not part of the plan!
I've been super lucky so far to have been looked after by lots of wonderful people, and I'm also participating in a clinical trial which will hopefully help them test a new technique.
Since being diagnosed, I have been amazed by how utterly cool the science is behind the treatments we have available to us nowadays. From MRI and PET/CT scans to chemotherapy drugs, breast reconstruction methods, mammograms, biopsies (so many biopsies...) I think cancer treatment is one huge advert for a wide range of STEM careers. I am so blown away by how all of the different medical professionals work together to get the best outcome for cancer patients.
I would like to raise money for Breast Cancer Now to fund research into breast cancer and its treatments. You may not know that men can also get breast cancer - in fact I've seen lots of men in the hospital waiting rooms, so this is something which affects everyone.
Thank you if you're able to make a donation, it means a lot to me :)
