So why am I riding 110km+ each day, for three days?

I’ve signed up for a Techbickers ride from Perpignan to Barcelona. It’s a 3 days bike ride (110+ km/day) with people from the European tech community. The event is a fundraising for an organisation called Room to Read that promotes children literacy (mostly girls) in East Asia and South Africa.

Techbikers donations were used to create 8 schools and 31 libraries in Nepal, India, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Tanzania and South Africa. Approximately 10,000 children have been impacted..

So YALLA guys, I need your help in that. As a great believer of helping other to help themselves, investing in education is the best way to provide that. And a great thing, my friends can participate.

I've covered the ride costs (and more), everything that you add goes directly to Room to Read, and you can be sure it will be well utilised and spent by these guys. I've read several of their missions to persuade myself about that.

Did you know that if every child received an education, 170 million people would be lifted out of poverty?

In June, I will drop my laptop and get on a bike, cycling over 300km with 60 other riders from Paris to London with TechBikers - all to raise money for Room to Read!

WHERE WILL MY DONATION GO?

All your donations will go straight to Room to Read, who have received the coveted Four Star Rating from Charity Navigator nine(!) years in a row. Funds will be used to build schools or libraries in developing countries such as Nepal or Tanzania. Funds go where the need is greatest.

WHAT'S TECHBIKERS?

In 2012 TechBikers launched in London as a means for the tech community to put down their laptops and pick up a bike to support charity, network and share ideas. The goal is to help children in need by supporting literacy charity Room to Read. Since 2012 over 350 tech professionals – including start-ups, venture capitalists and executives – have cycled 1600km between Paris to London to raise over € 300.000 for this fantastic charity.

This year, TechBikers is going international with rides across central and Eastern Europe.
