It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Late October, early November last year, my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. From the beginning the prognosis was bleak as his cancer had spread already. The doctors said they could only treat it to prevent it spreading more, and that they hoped to give us more than a year with him. Of course, that was the most devastating news you could ever imagine hearing. But what was even more devastating was that only two months later my dad passed away.

Not only did I have so little time to try and come to terms with his diagnosis, but before I knew it, I was saying goodbye to one of the most important people in my life.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis- and unfortunately my dad was one of these people.

Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease.

People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long. When you begin a race from behind, you have two choices. To remain behind or go faster. To do nothing. Or do more. So Pancreatic Cancer UK goes above and beyond for everyone affected by this brutal disease. That’s why I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK. To help ensure people don’t suffer in the way my dad - and my family - have, and continue to.

Your donations will bring more breakthroughs through research, more change through campaigning, and more support through our expert nurses.

Together, we can bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.
