IHS Markit London to Brighton Cycle 2021 · 10 December 2021

Every day in the UK, 38 young people are diagnosed with cancer, and we're the only charity that offers tailored support to this age group of cancer patients. We support people in their 20s or 30s to live life alongside cancer. Events, expert advice, exercise & more.

Story

UPDATE 10 Dec.  So we finished!  See the photos above for revised pics from today.  In the end 20 of us made it end-to-end with a couple dropping out due to mechanical issues on the way.  The day was sunny and cold made colder by a fierce wind, but thankfully blowing from the NW which helped a lot.  It didn't rain which was amazing!  Real kudos goes to: Tom Matheson who rode the whole way on a fixed-gear bike (yes, just one locked on gear and no freewheel); Harry Rimmer who had a dodgy knee and ate too many gels so was very sick for two hours; and Anthony Machin who had two punctures, cut himself on the glass that caused the puncture, got completely dropped by us (apologies!) but still made it to Brighton alone.  There were many more adventures but we finished off with Fish and Chips and Beer on the Brighton seafront

ORIGINAL TEXT:

A few (well maybe 30 or so) extremely courageous IHS Markiters from Ropemaker and friends have decided to cycle London to Brighton on Friday 10th December...

Our brave cyclists are:

Alex Valuev, Alex Stovell, Anthony Machin, Ben Westwood, Charlie Bedford-Forde, Chinmay Upadhyay, Craig Nichols, David Banahan, Demian Flowers, Edouard Tavernier, Felix Barnard-Weston, George Emmerson, Harry Gibson, Harry Rimmer, Harry Tong, James Williamson, Karthick Chandrasekaran, Menelaos Vakalopoulos, Nathan Kirk, Peter Delamere, Philip Ortiz-Bukowski, Philippe Pagnotta, Stuart Rawlings, Tancrede Collard, Tim Browne, Tobias Gibbs, Tom Matheson, Will Bisley, Will Meldrum.

Normally, you're supposed to do it in June when it's sunny and warm.  We suspect it's quite likely to be cold*, wet* and challenging but we are looking to make it a lot of fun.

We're doing this ride is help raise money for our charity of the year, Trekstock, which helps young cancer sufferers get through their treatment and back to the life they love.  The team at Trekstock is doing amazing work.

We have set up this link for you to donate funds. You are all welcome to encourage us and contribute to this great cause. Please don’t be shy in your donations…😊  And the great thing is that for every £ you donate, IHS Markit is going to match your donation.
