Story

13.5 million Syrians in need of humanitarian aid, 7 million Syrian refugees, 2.8 million Syrian children without an education

I have never understood why people like you and me have been so fortunate to experience life as we know it whilst in the same world, a child that has barely taken his/her first breath is destined for a life surrounded by destruction, disease and death. How is it that a child who has not yet learned how to tie his/her own shoe lace, has learned how to hold a gun?

The children of Aleppo, Syria, have been exposed to circumstances, unimaginable by most, at an early stage in their lives. Their cruel reality will forever remain a picture or news headline in our world, however it is still just that; a REALITY. Many, fortunate people will struggle to understand what life is truly like for these children, myself and Becky cannot comprehend this way of living by any means, ourselves. However, in an attempt to bring some minor degree of understanding of the daily battle for survival, faced by these innocent children, I will link video footage below.

I don't know whether we are given our lives by chance or what allows innocent people to be forced to live in the circumstances they do, whether there is a process that dictates who leads what life or how it all happens but there is one thing I know for sure; it cannot be justified and we must not settle to accept it. There is no reason why I should sit, with a roof over my head, knowing I will eat a meal tonight, with easy access to clean water and an education while a girl in Aleppo, just the same age as me should sit between debris, rubble and what is the remains of her home, with no food, access to clean water or an education.

Furthermore, there is no reason why we, as people who live comfortably should choose to ignore the people who do not. I believe we must do anything and everything we can to help. Together we can make a significant difference.

Myself and Becky are incredibly passionate about helping fund one of the few schools left in the Aleppo area in an attempt to salvage the education of some these 2.8 million children without one and urge YOU to help. Gaining an education could allow these children to not only understand how to protect themselves in these difficult times but will give them hope for a brighter future and a way out of the life they were born into. Every child has a dream and we believe that they should at least be given the tools that enable them to reach it.

We will be doing a sponsored bungee jump to help raise money and awareness. The impact your donations could make is greater than you may realise and EVERY donation, no matter how big or small would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you,

Ila and Becky
