Ilford Islamic Centre Pakistan Flood Emergency

Pakistan Flood Emergency · 28 August 2022
Pakistan is in the midst of a devastating monsoon season causing their worst floods ever, resulting in over 70% of the country under water and presently 33 million people displaced. With rains expected to continue these numbers will sadly get worse.
Village after village has been swept away, infrastructure has been destroyed, livestock lost and people have been left homeless having lost all their possessions. Water damage of this scale also leads to a rapid spread of waterborne disease.
Humanitarian assistance is required in all four provinces - food, shelter and medicines are critically short in supply and due to the infrastructure, even delivery is difficult. The poorest and most vulnerable are on the frontline of the crisis.
Pakistan produces less than 1% of the world's carbon emissions but it is one of the top 10 most affected by the Climate Crisis.
Ilford Islamic Centre have set an ambitious target and are working with Al Mustafa Welfare Trust as our delivery partner. They have a huge volunteer workforce on the ground with experience and efficiency in delivering exactly this kind of relief work.
