Story
So as you probably know I have had a few fundraising causes since loosing Daniel two years ago. This time, I'm fundraising for a cause that has helped me massively throughout these past years.
When Daniel passed away I felt alone, I felt like the world was against me. My whole world had been ripped from under my feet and I had lost all hope in the world. So I turned to WAY - Widowed and Young. They provide support for those of us who have lost our partners at a young age. I cannot even begin to explain how thankful I am for this much needed charity.
Becoming a young widow is very isolating. It can be hard to get support as you are surrounded by people who cannot comprehend how you feel and what has happened to you no matter how much they try. It can be difficult to be surrounded by your friends because they are having a 'normal' life. When you see your friends getting engaged, buying houses, having children ect. it just makes you feel even more alone and many people like me stop going out and continue to isolate themselves even more. As time goes on I have started to open up to my friends more and I am much more comfortable with seeing other people happy. I actually quite like it now because I have learned life is so precious and every person deserves to be happy.
That is what WAY has done for me. It has helped me heal, not completely - never completely but I am part of a loving community who continue to support me throughout every step of my journey. In the good days and the bad and for me it has been a real lifeline.
This charity is small but sadly it growing in numbers, and with that they need to keep expanding what they can offer. This charity is the only resort for a lot of people including myself for a long time. They deserve all the support they can get.
