Walking The Two Moors Way 188k for Dementia UK

Walk 100K in July · 1 July 2024 to 31 July 2024 ·
I'm taking part in the “Walk 100K in July” challenge to support families facing dementia but am upping the ante by converting kilometres to miles and adding a bit to walk the Two Moors Way from Wembury Beach on the South Devon coast, across Dartmoor and Exmoor, to Lynmouth on the North Devon coast covering a little over 117 miles or 188k in 7 days. I hope!!
Loads of people asked if I was doing it for charity but I always replied “Nope, so many people do fund raising , I don’t want to hassle people so I’m just doing this for myself!”
And then “Dementia UK Walk 100k in July” popped up on my instagram feed.
Which I thought was a sign..
So now I am fundraising!!
There are too many people I know whose families have been and are being affected by Dementia so it was meant to be. Perfect timing!
Your donation , however big or small, makes a difference.
Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline.
£33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s behaviour.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
