Story

Thanks for coming to my JustGiving page!

I've decided that I'm happy to be 60 if I can a) run, and b) make lots of great stuff happen in Guinea Bissau through our new charity Action Guinea Bissau. So I'd like to invite all my friends and family to my imaginary 60th birthday party - and, if you can, please donate the cost of the orange juice or coffee you might have bought me, or part of your transport to get to it ... if we weren't in lockdown.

One of our next projects in Action Guinea Bissau is to help clean up the port area in Bissau with a big group of volunteers there (the funding is to hire a tractor and truck and buy cleaning materials and gloves) - as you can see from the photos, the plastic, petrol and general rubbish has built up to such an extent and there is very little government support available. We're also sponsoring various people to study at university (around £480/year), setting up more microcredit loans (£200 each), buying seeds and tools for women to grow food (from £10) and have plans to help support secondary schools. Have a look at our website and Instagram to see what we've done already: we've just completed a wonderful tree-planting project, fenced off land, repaired wells and toilets and even built a small bakery. I'd love it if you could help me celebrate my birthday - and thank you so much in advance! Linda x
