In November 2003, Steven Blears died at the age of 19 after a two-year battle with Leukaemia.
The Story So Far
In 2010 some ordinary people came together in his memory and did something extraordinary. We ran, swam and cycled all over the world and raised more than £10,000 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. That was the Mad Hatters Challenge.
While we're so proud of what we achieved - helping Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research fund world-leading new research to improve diagnosis, treatment and support for blood cancer patients - we want to do more.
We learned that Leukaemia and Lymphoma will not stop until blood cancer is beaten, so we won't stop until blood cancer is beaten. Imagine a world without blood cancer, then help us achieve it by becoming part of the Leading Light campaign.
Over the next four years, starting with the 2012 London Marathon, the Leading Light campaign will give everything to raise £1million for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
