Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For anyone who knows me they will know I am not a gifted runner! I have never run a marathon before, but have promised to run the half marathon in Plymouth to raise funds for a charity very close to my heart.
The race is now only 2 months away and any support you can give me will help me to get one foot in front of the next! The Plymouth half marathon is on Sunday the 29th of May, which will be George and my 2nd wedding anniversary too! Sadly Devon is not flat so there are some serious hills to tackle on the route....eekk!
My first involvement with motor neurone disease was in 1989 when on my graduation day my mum Peggy told me she had been diagnosed with MND. My parents had not wanted to tell me until I'd got through my finals. Needless to say I was devastated as I knew what a horrible and fatal condition this is.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association were very helpful to my parents, and my father after her death. They are not a headline charity and as the condition is not very well known it is often overlooked. I know they will use every penny raised to help care for people with MND and their families, as well as funding research into finding a cure in the future.
Here in Plymouth I have a friend called Simon Adams who has motor neurone disease. He is trying to raise £1,000,000 for the MNDA, and I would like any money I can raise to go towards his 'pot'. Any money you can donate would be brilliant, even if it is just a few pence, and will help keep me going on the 29th!
If anyone wants to cheer me on the day I will be near the back, red faced and wearing a MNDA shirt!
