CALM Does Snowdon at Night 2023 · 22 July 2023 ·

We provide suicide prevention resources to help prevent suicide in the UK

Story

In an effort to support the amazing work the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) does, I take part in this year’s CALM does Snowdon at Night challenge!

30 of us from Mintel will be starting the 21km hike at 11pm on 22nd July, reaching the finish line at around sunrise the next morning.

This event is a night time hike up Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales. The event venue for this challenge is in the town of Llanberis in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

The Snowdon at Night challenge is graded as tough. This is the perfect challenge for participants who are of an adventurous spirit and having taken on a previous trekking challenge and are now looking to push themselves further.

Despite its location in the UK, the difficulty of this trek (the Llanberis Path) should not be underestimated as it requires one to trek through the night, with tough ascents and descents, with the added challenge of walking in the dark.

CALM is a suicide prevention charity who provide life-saving services to people when they’re in crisis. The charity also campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues as sadly 125 lives are lost to suicide in the UK every week, and 75% of these are men.

My goal is to raise £345, that could help provide 43 potentially life-saving calls to the CALM helpline.
