Team #The-lounge are taking on The National Three Peaks Challenge which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance.

The three peaks are: Ben Nevis / Beinn Nibheis (1,345 m or 4,413 ft), the highest mountain in Scotland. Scafell Pike (978 m or 3,209 ft), the highest mountain in England. Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales.

We will be raising money for our local charity, Children Of Adam, and the money raised will go to the children's Amazon ward at Peterborough Hospital.

The money is vital to rejuvenate the bathroom in the ward, which is quite dated and desperately needs sprucing up and to be made more "child-friendly" and less cold and clinical.

The bathroom will be repainted with fresh colours, a new television, new fixtures and fittings, lights on the wall and cartoon characters around the room.

We have been told that children who are sick have to spend a lot of time in there so this refit will make such a difference to their experience and to their treatment.

The 3 Peaks challenge is not a walk in the park. It demands a significant amount of preparation, fitness, stamina and mental toughness. I'm sure the whole team will be challenged throughout the 24 hours with sleep deprivation, fatigue, vertigo, blisters, potentially bad weather, visibility and a whole host of other obstacles. But with your pledges and support, and the support from the whole team at Children of Adam, I'm sure it will be a huge success.
