Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 25th March 2014 we all lost a very special friend, Dave Storey, who died at the age of 53 after a very sudden Stroke.
The Northern Echo did a wonderful article about our amazing friend, see: http://m.thenorthernecho.co.uk/search/11144066.Parents__heartfelt_tribute_to_Darlington_detective/ but we all want to do more to remember someone who captured everything that's good in the human spirit.
Dave was always someone who went the extra mile for others, be it in his work as a Detective Sergeant in Co Durham & Darlington Constabulary, with his wonderful family or in his personal life. Luckily many of us had the joy to walk and climb many extra miles with him in the hills and mountains of Northern England and Scotland.
At midnight on 31st May many of his friends, family and former work colleagues will be climbing the 2,795 feet peak called Grasmoor as part of the charity, COPS, 'Light the Lakes' fund raising campaign. We are aiming to get to the summit at 3am in order to light a beacon and share some thoughts and happy memories of our friend.
Ian Davis the organiser of the 'Light the Lakes' campaign is hoping to get someone to the top of every Lake District summit (the Wainwrights) at 3am in memory of Police Officers who have died in service.
We would be very grateful if you would donate in memory of a wonderful person for a great cause and/or come and join us or other people as part of 'Light the Lakes'. Further details can be found at: http://www.stuhyde.com/p/light-lakes.html and a full list of the peaks that will be lit up on 31st May is at: https://drive.google.com/a/stuhyde.com/file/d/0B5KCgpCzbleNSTZ4cDk1Yk4ySm8/preview
