John had an enormous passion for life, nature and he was filled with absolute unadulterated joy. He was positively incandescent!

To eat, drink and be very merry was his motto. 

Along with the late, great Mr. Raymond Sawyer, John was one of the world's 'Bird Men', a truly dedicated Aviculturalist. His death will leave a gaping hole in the zoo, conservation and avicultural communities around the globe.

In memory of John, this page has been set up to raise funds for the Zoological Society of London's "South Asia Vulture Recovery Programme in Nepal", a project John was heavily involved in and extremely passionate about.
