We have all benefited at some time from palliative support
for our loved ones as they near the end of their lives.  

For Anthony, Steve and John, our thoughts are with our
beautiful cousin / sister in law, Lisa who we lost to a degenerative disease back on 12 December 2012.   The other person in our thoughts is John's dad who died of cancer back in 2002.  John(snr) received fantastic palliative care and support in the last few months of his life. Mark as a GP has known many people who have received comfort from several hospices and so we all want to take this opportunity to give something back.

About Springhill Hospice

Thank you for taking the first step to helping us raise the £3 million a year it costs to keep the doors of Springhill Hospice open. The services we provide are free of charge. We care for adults aged 18 and over with a life limiting illness. As well as caring for in-patients we also provide respite care, pain and symptom control, counselling for patients and family members, a day hospice for out-patients, hospice care in the home and bereavement advice. The fundraising challenge...

We are taking part in a challenge which involves driving
across 9 countries in 4 days finishing in Italy.  We will do this in an
old car which we have funded ourselves at a maximum total cost of £500. We were very fortunate to acquire the 20 year old 'Hulk Mondeo' from a family who have previously used it to raise money for charity.  

Our journey will take us through Belgium, Luxembourg,
France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Slovenia to our final
destination, Italy.  That's 9 countries.  Then we travel back through
Switzerland and France in just 2 days.  Total distance about 2500
miles!
