My Story:
After many months of back pain and tingling sensations in both my arms, an MRI scan determined that I had two slipped discs protruding into my spinal cord. I was admitted to the hospital striaght after I received the results to undergo neck surgery as I was at high risk of paralysis. This was not due to any injury or accidents, simply wear and tear over the years.
1) In 2018, A disc Replacement & Fusion in the front of the neck took place 2) A cervical laminectomy involves the removal of the back portion of a vertebra to create more room within the spinal canal. An incision is made down the middle of the back of my neck to allow the surgeon to access the back of the cervical spine. Then removes the lamina which then relieves the pressure on the spinal cord. Recovery took over 6 months.
Although the operations were a success, I am still feeling alot of discomfort in my arms, neck, shoulders and back. I am limited to do certain daily activities and exercise. I am also currently taking strong painkillers and under pain- management treatments, it has been very tough!!
I’m all for being positive, but living like this is not fun but I want to do everything I can to help change my life, and the lives of countless others, for the better. So, I challenged myself to do this London Winter Walk, will you encourage me and help these children?
