Indigo's Three Peaks Challenge · 16 June 2018

We exist to defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society. We believe that home is everything.

Story

On the 16/17 June an intrepid team from Indigo Planning's Manchester office will be aiming to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours.

They will start with Ben Nevis in Scotland,, before heading down to the Lake District (England) to tackle Scafell, with the final climb taking place in Wales with Mount Snowdon.

The challenge was set just over 11 months ago and the team have put it to the back of their minds until very recently when the words 'training' and 'climbs' were mentioned.  Panic has subsequently set in but they are confident they will prevail.  Their heroic feats will help to raise much needed funds for our two chosen charities of Shelter and The Charley Ashton Foundation.  A little background on each below:

Shelter

Every day 150 families in Britain become homeless.  Shelter helps those struggling with bad housing or homelessness through providing advice on a wide variety of matters such as how to access emergency housing, provides support to those struggling, and provides free legal services.  Shelter also campaigns to central government to make changes in the law to improve housing security and quality standards, and to put housebuilding back on the political agenda.

The Charley Ashton Foundation seeks to support those affected by rare cancers.  The charity was only set up in the last year by the family of Charley Ashton who tragically passed away in April 2017 after a long battle with a very rare form of cancer.  The charity's goals are:

-Supporting individuals with rare cancers by funding alternative treatments and offering tailor-made grants to improve quality of life;
-Offering an online forum that provides a platform for advice and support to those affected by rare cancers; and
-Making grants to organisations that support individuals with rare cancer, organisations that promote awareness of rare cancers and organisations that undertake research into rare cancers.
