Hi, Nick (Indigo Traveller) here. Thank you for watching my videos and taking an interest in the unfolding crisis in Lebanon.
You have probably seen devastating images of the explosion in Beirut which flattened most of the city’s port on the 4th of August. 6,500 people were injured and over 300,000 people became homeless overnight, many others were impacted by the explosion just like 80 year old Samir in the photo above. When I was in Samir's house I saw that part of his roof had collapsed and watched as he ate stale bread out of a black bin bag.
Even before the explosion, millions of Lebanese struggled to afford the basics. In just ten months, the Lebanese Lira lost 80% of its value causing the prices of food and medicine to soar and is adding to the terrible situation.
As a bitter winter approaches, these people desperately need food, shelter and the means to keep themselves warm.
Human Appeal are on the ground providing humanitarian assistance – they’re determined to reach the most marginalised and vulnerable people, many families have received emergency food parcels, many homes rebuilt and clean water is being trucked to homes, schools and hospitals.
On top of the above, right now, currently over 1.5 million refugees are living in Lebanon. The majority are from Syria and Palestine who have fled from war and now face incredible hardships – many earn less than $3 a day.
Human Appeal are providing urgently needed food, medicine and shelter for refugees across Lebanon. In winter, Human Appeal will distribute food and winter packs with hats, scarves, gloves, mattresses, blankets and fuel for heating. Every dollar will make a huge difference. Thank you.
You can help out now – just $10 could provide a family of four with food for an entire week.
