Story

I'm raising money for St. Catherine's Hospice and the Macmillan Nurses who looked after my brother in law Stephen Fearon who sadly died from Cancer a few years ago at the age of 42.  I rode the Manchester to Blackpool ride back in 2011 and raised somewhere in the region of £600. Steve was a keen cyclist himself and my sister very kindly passed his bike on to me and so I'm even using his bike to do the ride on - I'd much rather prefer for him to be doing this with me which would have been great but sadly he's no longer here - atleast his bike will make the journey.  We're doing the ride on Friday 18th / Saturday 19th July.

In total there are ten of us who are doing the ride - it's all been self organised and all expenses / travel / accomodation etc is coming from our own pockets. All the donations from this page will be going straight to St. Catherines.  Each one of us is riding the 140 miles from Whitehaven on the West Coast to Tynemouth on the East Coast of England through the Lake District and across the Pennines and that means a lot of very big hills ........ Of course there'll be a few welcome pints at the end of it no doubt !!

Seriously though please give as much as you can as the guys at St Catherine's and the Macmillan Nurses really do make things a whole lot easier for people who have to deal with Cancer.  It's not pleasant for anyone especially the person with this wretched illness - the ones they leave behind who have had to watch their loved ones fade away and then dealing with the aftermath once it's all over.  There's loads of Cancer charities out there and to be honest the more any of them get the better- the sooner we can get to finding something that can stop all this suffering - the better !!
