Story
This picture is me with my brother on my wedding day.
This year was my 11th wedding anniversary on the 18th January 2019, my brother is a very fit 49 year old, ex-professional basketball player who has been admitted to the hospital with just 10% functioning kidney. He was very lucky to be diagnosed very quickly, big thank you to the doctors, but unfortunatly this disease was living in his body for quite some time. His diagnoses was ANCA Vasculitis. He has been having lots of treatments, bags of medications. Went through four rounds of chemo, now he has to have dialysis 3 times a week and the doctors are suggesting a future kidney transplant. Not the news we all have been hoping for…
I never heard Vasculitis before. This is a very rare diseased. Many patients develop symptoms which may be attributable to many other diseases, as any organ can be affected. The symptoms are often non-specific and often mimic other more common conditions. Unfortunately, because of these difficulties’ diagnosis can be missed or delayed for some time and leads to difficulty to treat.
The more we can raise the more of a chance that people can have to fight it, this charity helps support vasculitis patients and they families, raising awareness of vasculitis among the general public, medical professionals and other health professionals, funding essential for vasculitis research here in the UK and support for this wonderful charity. This charity is run by nine unpaid Trustees. People involved in this charity doing the most amazing job.
I will be doing Easter walk 25km with Action Challenge on the 20th April and will be raising the money for Vasculitis. Thank you for taking time to hear my story and please if you can help in anyway you can it would mean the world to me.
